Post Protection is better than cure !
A few weeks ago my X-66 I got serious problems with my X-66.
The power transformer simply melted down because one rectifier diode was suddenly shorted at the secondary winding.
This is not the first time that such event appears to X-66 owners.
In fact, the X-66 as well as many other Hammond's are not protected by any fuse to prevent such major failures.
Personnaly, I have never understood why Hammond has been always so reluctant to install protecting devices such as fuses, circuits breakers and the like in their organs.
Anyhow, a replacement transformer was found in The Netherlands (thanks to Sjaak of Musifix-Reusel) and the power supply unit is now almost rebuilt but this time with adequate protection fuses.
A new chapter called 'Protecting your Hammond' is under preparation now and will be issued early october.
Several solutions and full details will be proposed and available on the X-66 website.
What's happened to me may also happen unexpectedly to anyone during play. Therefore, I strongly recommend to implement those protection fuses in your Hammond X-66.
All the best,

Dan Vigin

There's an old joke among Hammond techs, "Hammond fuse = power transformer." Good thing fusing is relatively easy to add.

How can I implement those protection fuses Mr Vigin? I just finally bought my X66 and I'm very concerned about keeping the organ in good shape, although the organ needs a little bit or work, but generally it's working ok. could you reply? thanks.
